How 8th CPC Salary is Estimated: Step-by-Step Guide

Transparent documentation of all computational equations, rounding conventions, and allowance algorithms powering 8th Pay Calc.

Step 1: Revised Basic Pay Calculation

The fundamental starting point is multiplying the existing 7th CPC Basic Pay by the assumed fitment factor. In Indian Pay Commissions, the resulting basic pay is rounded to the nearest ₹100.

Projected Basic = Math.round((Current Basic × Fitment Factor) / 100) × 100

Step 2: Dearness Allowance (DA) Reset

When a new pay commission is implemented, the accumulated DA of the preceding commission is merged into Basic Pay. As a result, the new DA rate starts at 0% from day one of the new scale.

Step 3: House Rent Allowance (HRA)

HRA is applied based on the employee's posting city: Class X (30%), Class Y (20%), and Class Z (10%), with minimum protected floor amounts (₹5,400 for X, ₹3,600 for Y, ₹1,800 for Z).

Step 4: Statutory Deductions & Take-Home Salary

Gross Salary = Basic Pay + DA + HRA + Transport Allowance.
Net In-Hand Salary = Gross Salary - (NPS 10% + CGHS + CGEGIS + Income Tax).
